I finally reached the end of the long arduous path which led to my publishing 8 of 14 plugins which automate transforming nonfiction book manuscripts into practically ready-to-publish Adobe InDesign documents, namely: BadTags, BlankPages, ChapterTitles, DocStats, FirstParagraphs, PostProcessing, TagRemnants, and UserData. These are free; one more free plugin swill be published shortly: TopOfPage inserts.
I shall publish within a couple of weeks five more plugins, available against a modest yearly subscription, namely: CrossReferences, DoAll, Footnotes, ImageProcessing and Indexes. Please note that the DoAll plugin. It processes the document in one pass; it does the work of the other thirteen plugins.
If you are in the nonfiction publishing business and use InDesign, these plugins should save you tons of InDesign time. You might start with DocStats, it provides metrics as to what the document conations: number of paragraph, of characters, automation tags…
Icing on the cake, if you want to roll your own plugins, read my Adobe InDesign Automation – Nonfiction publishing via JavaScript book, available via Amazon – type InDesign automation, it will popup.
