Source code in book: Adobe InDesign Automation of Nonfiction Books via JavaScript
Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this plugin to do its job. It cycles through the document to gather data which it reports via a dialog box and via a DocTags.txt file in the plugins directory: C:/Users/<user>/…/External/XXXX/PluginData where XXXX is the plugin’s ID, a unique Adobe attributed number.
What it does
This DocTags plugin enables running three tasks: BadTags, TagRemnants and PostProcess, as follows:
- BadTags – Four of my automation tags rely on HTML-like tags (Cross-references, Indexes, ImageProcessing, Footnotes). The BadTags task detects malformed tags thereby reducing significantly proofreading time.
- TagRemnants – When tag-based automation (Cross-references, Indexes, ImageProcessing, Footnotes) has done their job, some HTML-like parts and pieces may remain because of author typos when creating them. The TagRemnants task detects practically all of these.
- PostProcess – This plugin standardizes font size of items in Footnotes, sets colors on automation tags to blue, and relinks images.
Please note that all tasks provide a button which enables opening their respective ReadMe content.
